HOWEVER, I did find a local listing for a Howa Golden Bear. It was advertised as a copy of the Sako Finnbear. I tried looking up some information on it, but not too much is out there. Windows 10 update error. I think I found that they were made in the 60s/70s. So my question is this. A new Howa Gameking package for $549, or an old Howa Golden Bear for $525. While browsing the discount section of a local gun store I stumbled upon a Howa 1500 in.300 Winchester Magnum. I had been wanting to add a.300 Win Mag to my collection, and 40% off an already-low MSRP was too good a deal to pass up. Howa-bout a little history? Howa is a Japanese.

Howa Golden Bear Rifle For Sale
I have this rifle in .30-06. My Dad got it used in the early 80s. From what I've read, it's a pretty good copy of a Sako Finnbear. A big chunk broke out of the original stock, by the safety. My Dad managed to find a replacement stock at a gunsmith shop..the smith had only seen 2 of these rifles; the one my Dad had and the one he got the stick from.
Mine has some kind of modified weaver-style bases on it, which look pretty hideous. Just wondering if anyone knows what bases would be compatible with this thing?
Anyone have this gun or a Sako Finnbear you can post a couple photos of the action so I can compare? It's not like the current Howa 1500, I checked.
